Recycling & EcoPure

At P-Wave, environmental considerations are very much a cornerstone of our operations. Whether that's in reducing our carbon footprint using sea freight instead of air or packing our products with the maximum fragrance concentration for long-lasting performance. We even ensure that every P-Wave branded product is fully recyclable and our air fresheners have long been identified as the optimal substitute for difficult-to-recycle and ecologically detrimental aerosol alternatives.
However, in recent years, we've come to understand that simply making a product recyclable doesn't guarantee it will be recycled, especially considering the regional discrepancies in recycling methods. Moreover, urinal screens, in particular, are less likely to be recycled post-use.
Consequently, in 2019, we partnered with our American manufacturer to independently test an additive called EcoPure in our forthcoming Slant6 urinal screen at the Eden Research Laboratory. This additive is intended to hasten biodegradation if the product ends up in landfill, and so far, it has proven to be a ground-breaking success for us.
P-Wave EcoPure Graph
In February 2024, we achieved 68.9% biodegradation in slightly under five years (see graph above). Based on these results, we've set a realistic target of 100% biodegradation within a decade for any products containing EcoPure, this factors in some slowdown towards the end of the process. We continue to conduct tests and will update the results here regularly, but in the meantime, feel free to delve into our latest explainer via the link below.
We plan to incorporate the EcoPure additive into an expanded range of products, and have already added our Trough Urinal Screen and the newly introduced OurFresh-e refills to the expansion
